A year has passed since the Mandarin Oriental Savoy opened its doors in the heart of Zurich, marking 185 years since Johannes Baur introduced the city’s first grand hotel, Hotel Baur. Founded in 1838, this historic landmark is Zurich’s oldest grand hotel. The hotel has welcomed many renowned guests, including composer Franz Liszt and English writer Charles Dickens. Its central location offers convenient access to Bahnhofstrasse’s luxury boutiques, Zurich’s charming Old Town and the scenic promenade along Lake Zurich. Renowned interior designer Tristan Auer was enlisted to reimagine the five-star hotel’s interiors, blending historical charm with modern elegance. The hotel now features 44 rooms and 36 suites, many with spacious balconies. Drawing inspiration from Zurich’s iconic blue and white hues, the design combines beauty with functionality, punctuated by artistic touches.

Mandarin Oriental Savoy houses four distinct dining and bar concepts under the direction of Executive Chef Benjamin Halat: Savoy Brasserie & Bar, a stylish brasserie serving French-inspired dishes, Swiss classics, and signature cocktails all day; Orsini, an Italian fine-dining experience led by Antonio Guida, head chef of the two Michelin-starred Seta restaurant at Mandarin Oriental, Milan; Mandarin Lounge, a tranquil spot for unwinding after shopping or sightseeing in the city center; 1838 Rooftop Bar, named to honor the hotel’s founding year, this rooftop bar offers sweeping views of Zurich’s cityscape, Lake Zurich, and the Swiss Alps.
Located at Paradeplatz, Mandarin Oriental Savoy is a premier venue for special events, from weddings and celebrations to corporate gatherings. Its meeting and event spaces span over 700 square meters, including a beautifully restored historic ballroom. Blending old-world charm with contemporary sophistication, the Mandarin Oriental Savoy graces Zurich with elegance, capturing the city’s essence in both style and heritage.
