Cervo Mountain Resort, set in Zermatt, Switzerland, offers breathtaking views of the iconic Matterhorn, which rises 4,478 meters above sea level as one of Europe’s most famous peaks. Born from the dream of Daniel F. Lauber and Seraina Lauber to create a boutique retreat at the foot of the Matterhorn where people from around the world could gather and unwind, Cervo first opened its doors in 2009 with five chalets and a restaurant. Over the years, the resort expanded its vision, reopening in 2020 with a new concept, additional lodges and two new restaurants – Ferdinand and Bazaar – as well as the exclusive Ātman Mountain Spa.

Rooted in Daniel F. Lauber’s heritage as the son of a passionate hunter, Cervo’s design fuses the rustic charm of Alpine hunting lodges with modern elegance, combining raw, natural materials and refined elements to embody both simplicity and exclusivity. With a holistic approach and attention to detail, the resort offers a casual yet sophisticated take on luxury that reflects the spirit of Zermatt. Sustainability has been central from the start, evident in the resort’s environmentally conscious energy systems and commitment to regional supply chains. Local partners provide honey, cheese, meat, bread and more, ensuring an authentic and responsible experience – highlighted by Cervo’s own bee colonies introduced in 2022, allowing guests to enjoy fresh honey at breakfast. This dedication to sustainability has earned Cervo the “Sustainable Living” classification from hotelleriesuisse, making it not only a haven of refined comfort but also a true celebration of nature and community.

 Rooms
Cervo offers a range of accommodations across several lodges, including Nomad, Alpinist and Huntsman, thoughtfully spread across the resort grounds. The nearby Overlook Lodge provides fully equipped apartments for guests seeking more space and independence. Each room offers unique, breathtaking mountain views, including stunning Matterhorn vistas. The timeless, modern design incorporates warm Alpine elements inspired by Zermatt’s natural colors and textures. Interiors in natural beige, gray and wood tones create a cozy, inviting atmosphere. Nostalgic touches such as books, backpacks, and an old rotary phone enhance the charm, while the absence of TVs encourages guests to unplug and savor the moment in this Alpine retreat.

Drinking & Dining
Cervo Mountain Resort features three distinctive dining experiences: Bazaar, Madre Nostra and Ferdinand. Bazaar, the vibrant heart of the resort, embraces a Middle Eastern-inspired theme showcased through Arabic calligraphy, cushions and a flavorful menu. This nomad-style restaurant serves breakfast and transforms into a lively cocktail lounge with vegetarian and vegan options and must-try matcha drinks crafted by Head Barista Ibrahim Chalitovič. Madre Nostra celebrates the richness of Italian cuisine, serving handmade pasta and alongside expertly grilled meats and seafood. Under the guidance of Roman executive chef Davide Cretoni and his team, the restaurant brings authentic Italian flavors to Zermatt’s Alpine setting. Ferdinand honors Valais culinary traditions, offering classic Swiss dishes like fondue and raclette made from local products, served in a sleek, modern chalet atmosphere that reflects the contemporary mountain spirit.
