English Center Benglen celebrated creativity and community on the weekend of the 22nd to 23rd of November, as visitors gathered for a special exhibition filled with storytelling, conversation and meaningful connection. In collaboration with SAFAR, English Center Benglen hosted Singaporean-born, Zurich-based artist Rosnah Khan – known artistically as Ona Khan – whose exhibition of art and jewelry drew many guests to enjoy an intimate and inspiring atmosphere. Family and friends rejoiced in celebrating art in its many expressive forms.

Founder and Director of English Center Benglen, Mo Haq

On Saturday evening, November 22, the founder and director of English Center Benglen, Mo Haq, welcomed guests to her school. Haq is a passionate educator with a lifelong dedication to language learning. She founded English Center Benglen in 2008, welcoming individuals of all ages who are interested in learning English, German and French through private, semi-private or group lessons. English Center Benglen also offers activities such as conversation evenings, a book club and social events like Ladies’ Night, Movie Nights and more. English Center Benglen, as we know it today, celebrated 10 years this year at its current location on Gerlisbrunnenstrasse 13. Ona Khan’s exhibition, presented in collaboration with English Center Benglen, continues a long tradition of events as the center enters its second decade at this location.

Singaporean artist Ona Khan

After welcoming guests and sharing a bit about herself, Haq introduced and handed the floor to Ona Khan. Khan shared elements of her story and the background of her work, offering visitors a deeper insight into the emotions and experiences behind her creations. Having loved art since childhood, Khan never imagined she would one day become an artist herself. Inspired by the world around her, she eventually picked up a paintbrush and discovered a natural talent – one many believe was passed down from her late father. She has since held several exhibitions, including at English Center Benglen and a boutique in Pontresina. Working with oil on canvas and painting with her fingers, she creates abstract pieces rich in emotional depth, each reflecting a chapter of her personal healing journey. Her creativity extends beyond painting: Khan designs jewelry and accessories, works as a makeup artist and explores fashion with the same intuitive artistry that defines her visual work.
